Updated on November 5th, by Patrick Mocella: Despite having been released over 3 years ago at the time of writing with no significant updates on a sequel to speak of, the mod community for Doki Doki Literature Club is still strong. With so many tremendous mods created by talented artists, writers, and programmers we had to include five more mods.
These entries all have links to where you can download the mods and play them for yourself. At the end of the day, every DDLC fan wants to save the girls from this awful digital world they're trapped in. Of course, an evil entity stands in your way and is determined to keep the girls trapped. If the player remembers and knows the girls well enough, they should be able to create a happy ending for all. Players of the game will know that as the game goes on, the friendship between all the girls will start to crumble as Monika's influence starts to take hold.
Playing as a transfer student to their school, the mod takes place in an alternate timeline where Sayori is alive after act 1.
You have little time to reunite the girls before graduation but it must be done. Yuri may have been given a lot of time in the game to develop her storyline, that doesn't mean that there's still doesn't exist some questions around her character. The mod is noted in the community for its emotional high and lows and is one of the longer mods to check out.
It is amazing, but not for those looking for a cheap thrill. Mostly commonly known as one of the worst games ever reviewed by the Angry Video Game Nerd, the original 3DO game is infamous for its non-sensical story, awful production values, and terrible acting. But if you really want to experience it, go for it. True hardcore fans of DDLC know that in this game, there exists a hidden image in Monika's character file that decrypted looks very out of place and sci-fi-esque.
In this mod, the player is part of a team who travels across different dimensions. Of course, shenanigans ensue with alternate dimensions versions of Sayori, Monika, Yuri, and Natsuki. This one doesn't rely too much on horror but if you want to see new versions of old favorites, this is the place to go.
It toys with the idea that Sayori's fate may have been inevitable, that Monika may not have had very much influence over her after all Perhaps the rainclouds can be pushed away if the player makes the right choices. This mod delves into the depths of Sayori's depression. It does it in a way that toes the line between tasteful and poignant. It adds a choose your own adventure twist and features actual die rolls that can cause genuinely random things to take place, even if you make the same choices as before.
In lieu of poems, the MC will play through a full round with the girls, resulting in one of several different endings. Now, most people will say that their mod comes with an. This mod comes with a windows. Enjoy mac people. I think I've said enough. I'll let ya go now and see how cool the mod is. NuB25 Joined 8mo ago. URL to post:. Cotito Joined 9mo ago. This mod aims to remedy that by taking the story from when things start to go wrong towards the end of Act 1. Even being able to spend time at the actual festival with the girls. The mod adds a whole new week at the literature club, along with routes for each of the girls and 2 different endings to unlock. Doki Doki might have made its mark for some of its darker content.
There are a lot of options when it comes to comedy mods for DDLC, and while they are meant to be funny, you might be surprised at how good some of these actually are. The mod takes place in the summertime obviously where Sayori invites you to join her for a day at the pool. While Sayori invites MC to a sun-filled pool party in Doki Doki Summertime, Coldest Summer offers yet another alternative storyline for the childhood best friends. Doki Doki Relapse sees MC regaining memory of the events that took place in Act 1, but does not quite know why.
DDLC Nightmare takes a full-on horror approach to the game, as it was actually made as a result of a mod challenge where the author received horror as their assigned theme. Another major theme touched on by DDLC is the issue of mental health. Modder Tormuse wanted to focus on that specific aspect and develop it even further, and the result can be seen in his True Literature Club mod. He felt that suicide and depression were mostly used for shock value in the original game and wanted to create a version where these topics were dealt with more sensitively.
With the darker undertones of DDLC, many fans were left wanting to find ways to give each of the characters their own happy endings. While the emotional rollercoaster ride that is DDLC is a great tear-jerker of an experience, it might be a good idea to take a break from some of the darker stuff for a bit for some lighthearted fun.
